WHY THESE 3 PLATFORMS ?

In the Web Presence project, the 3 platforms that chosen are Email, Facebook and Youtube.

EMAIL

The total number of worldwide email accounts is expected to increase from nearly 3.9 billion accounts in 2013 to over 4.9 billion accounts by the end of 2017. This represents an average annual growth rate of about 6% over the next four years. Email is remains the go-to form of communication in the Business world. In 2013, Business email accounts total 929 million mailboxes. This figure is expected grow at an average annual growth rate of about 5% over the next four years, and reach over 1.1 billion by the end of 2017. (Radicati, 2015)

The importance of Email is proven in the statistics above. The Email account is increasing from day to day. People used to contact online and email is the most common formal way to communicate between each others. Business men are the main group who used to send all project brief or quotations through email since email replaced the traditional letter communication. Once upon a time, people used to send message by using telegraph and mail and now all of these medium digitalized and go online. Email enables the users to attach files, images and links for the content while the cloud storage like One Drive or Google Drive allow the Email users to share larger files online too. In this modern and advanced technology era, email is the best method to replace mobile phone number whereby personal mobile number is high privacy data which not encouraged to disclose it online.  Scams are everywhere, hence, the private data should not be disclose and email is the best replacement to avoid harassment from anonymous.

Email helps to bond a strong connection in a society. People need an email account to register all other types of accounts. So the email account can link to other accounts such as social media like Twitter, LinkedIn and Google Plus. Jordie stated that email is the number one most popular activity on a smartphone, (Rijn, n.d.) Most of the people checked their emails every single minute to ensure there are no messages left out. People never leave their smartphones or off their data connection nowadays. Email can be written, send and receive in a finger picking time.

E-hand Pictures believed that Email is the best way to contact us for the services. All the project briefs, letters and quotations can be send and receive in Email. For the further contact information can be collect once they contact us through email. At the same time, email enables the world to communicate without the boundaries of countries, cultures or regions. Email connects the world and more international or big project can be persuaded and increase the chance to let the company to grow bigger. Not to forget that email is a free service and less cost is needed to send and receive an email. There are no charges like mobile phone messages or calls. Email actually helps when both sides are still strange or awkward with each other while the message can be delivered through the email. So, that is the first platform for E-hand Pictures.

FACEBOOK

Social media is a sudden pop up trend in the 21st century while Facebook is still standing still at the top over all the social media which pop up. Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook builds it as the social media to connect people around different places. Facebook started life as a simple networking service for Harvard students. Its initial objective was to provide a place where students could share personal news, events, announcements, and, perhaps most importantly, photographs. Although Mark Zuckerberg's initial objectives may have appeared limited, the popularity of the service soon presented the possibility of much larger objectives. (McKenzie, n.d.) But now Facebook turned into the best industry and platform for business. People used to sell products and services online through Facebook group, page and personal account. That’s because of the majority of the Facebook users are the consumers. Facebook is the only platform which gathers most of the people all around the world. Hence, that’s not surprise when Facebook becomes the world wide advertising for business tool.

‘We believe mobile video will become more important to marketers over time,’ says Sheryl Sandberg, with 75% of views happening on mobiles. The social network’s chief executive Mark Zuckerberg revealed the latest figure in his company’s earnings call with analysts, after announcing Facebook’s latest quarterly financial results. “We’re very pleased with our growth here, and this quarter we reached a new milestone of more than 4bn daily videos views,” said Zuckerberg. (Dredge, 2015) The best advertisement space seems to be Facebook especially the mobile version.

Hence, Facebook is chosen as the second platform which links to the director and the founder of E-hand Pictures at the same time. Facebook can tell one’s activity and since Facebook is the most popular social media for this century, it helps to connect the business networks. When there is new video or project coming up, the client can see the updates online. All behind the scene process can be following up if the director posted anything on Facebook. Facebook used to be more private account but it can tell someone’s ability at the same time. Facebook page updates the followers about the latest news and updates about the page. With the strong statistics above, Facebook can be the best platform for us to promote ourselves.
YOUTUBE

Based on the statistics on Youtube, it stated that YouTube has more than 1 billion users and every day people watch hundreds of millions of hours on YouTube and generate billions of views. The numbers of hour people are watching on YouTube each month is up 50% year over year. 300 hours of video are uploaded to YouTube every minute. 60% of a creator’s views comes from outside their home country.YouTube is localized in 75 countries and available in 61 languages.Half of YouTube views are on mobile devices. Mobile revenue on YouTube is up over 100%. (Statistics of Product, 2015)  This statistic shows the powerful of Youtube as a new company which established on Feb. 14, 2005. What began with a guy standing at the zoo is now enlisting celebrities of its own creation to interview the leader of the free world. (Epstein, 2015)

Youtube gathered all the people around the world to contribute their video works online to share around the world. The concept of collective intelligent is productive and engaged a very strong bond between contributors and the viewers. Visual is always better than text, because content with visual gets 94% more total views. Visual content is now 40 times more likely to be shared on social networks. (Piombino, 2014) Hence, video can delivered message better compared to pure text writing.

Due to E-hand Pictures is a production house which produced videos based creations, Youtube is the best and most popular channel which enables followers to watch the videos from the channel. Video is always the best element for viewers compared to the text. Videos can be shared from Youtube to other social media which can make a strong respond from the public. The full length video with the best quality can be played in Youtube compared to other channels.

Jurassic World 2015 movie review

Few days ago, I watched the latest movie, Jurassic World. I was a die-hard fans to Jurassic World since I was small. Can't believe that I'm watching it again after Jurassic Park III in 2001.

Not to deny that Jurassic World is better in all aspects compared to the last decade dinosaur movie.

CAST - Chris Pratt as Owen, while Bryce Dallas Howard as Beth were the main casts in the movie. They had a very strong chemistry together and they acted really well !

STORY LINE - The story is related to the previous episodes (in some parts) and it brings a climax and better story in this movie.

PROPS - Not to forget, their high tech props like the spherical shape automobile which allowed them to move freely around the park. The train traveled into the main entrance of Jurassic World is cool and everyone would love it if it can be experienced in real !

POST PRO - Their post pro effects are just much better than previous movies since the advanced technology of the green screen and after effects. The dinosaurs look real and  move naturally compared to the previous toy-ish dinosaurs. A memorable scene was the "circus show" for T-Rex to jump on and ate the shark hung in the air and splash water at the audience. The audience seats then moved down to the underwater to observe the habitat of T-rex.

OVERALL RATING : 9/10

That's awesome to me and it didn't make me down !

GOOD JOB !

Assignment 1 Essay

Choose one Web 2.0 platform discussed during module two and analyse the extent to which this platform has changed the way people communicate and collaborate.

In the 21st century, everything has achieved another higher level in our daily life and the technology of internet amazed us with the advanced web 2.0 technologies.  Since the centuries ago, human communicate with the traditional medium to deliver message and the communication between each others were simple but non-efficient and less interesting. After the Web0.0 which is the development and invention of internet, the Web1.0 launched and succeeds to gain the public intentions. Web 1.0 refers to the first stage in the World Wide Web, which was entirely made up of Web pages connected by hyperlinks.(Janssen,n.d.) But before 1999, Web1.0 was the Read-Only static website or homepage where there were only static images and information. There was no space of interactive content hence there was no directly communication online. According to Tim Berners-Lee the first implementation of the web, representing the Web 1.0, could be considered as the “read-only web.” In other words, the early web allowed users to search for information and read it. There was very little in the way of user interaction or content contribution. (Fleerackers,n.d.) Web1.0 was connected with wires while Web2.0 connects with wireless which Web2.0 is much convinient than Web1.0. Hence, Web2.0 as the Read-Write interactive dynamic web works faster compared to Web1.0 since Web1.0 supported by dial-up services and Web2.0 supported by broadband. Obviosuly, the dynamic Web2.0 works a lot better and faster compared to the static Web1.0.

Youtube is chosen as the Web 2.0 platform in this essay because it is the largest and the most popular online video destination in the world. It launched in 2005, which is only 10 years old until now! What are the reasons of the fast growing of Youtube? Not to deny that Youtube gives a large impact and influence on our daily lives. But how does Youtube changed the way people communicate and collaborate? The Youtube founders, Chad and Steve were the employees in Paypal, California. They noticed a small problem: there was an explosion in the number of expensive and inexpensive ways to capture video but there wasn't a good way to share videos. On Valentine's Day 2005, Chad registered the trademark, logo and domain of YouTube and in May of 2005, a small group of early employees launched the beta test site www.youtube.com. (A Brief History of YouTube, 2010) Youtube is the Web2.0 platform which mainly allow public to share videos on the site. The users can upload their vlogs, videos, music videos and any video format file to Youtube and there is a statistic management on the channels. The views are labelled clearly below the videos. They can subscribe to other’s channels if they are intersted in it. Subscriptions are the prove of the interactive and partipatory culture where Web1.0 can’t do.

Compared to the Web1.0, Web2.0 allow the visitors to add, contribute and change the information. Youtube provided the channel to public to uploads (contribute) any videos to their own channels. The users have the right to manage and edit their own accounts on the spot. When Google acquired YouTube in October of 2006 and finalized the deal in November (When did Google acquire YouTube and for how much?, 2010) , it helps Youtube to enlarge its market whereby Google combined few Web2.0 platform to converge to a better and stronger platform. Web2.0 provides dynamic information and interactive content between publisher and the visitor where the Youtube community is getting stronger and the participatory culture can be easily seen. The Youtube users called themselves Youtubers as well as an online identity Big company even started to look for talents on Youtube. The best example is Justin Bieber, he was first seen on YouTube and was discovered by Scooter Braun, now his manager. After that, Braun scheduled a meeting between Justin and Usher. Soon after, Bieber signed under the recording outfit owned by Braun and Usher, Raymond Braun Media Group (RBMG). (mjtalentsearch, 2010) Youtube as the Web2.0 enables the public to contact and interact with the users in the comments hub below the videos.

When we created an account in Youtube and it links back to Google and Gmail since Google acquisitions Youtube. Web2.0 allows websites to merge and Youtube channel is one of the popular social media. Youtube channel is powerful where the users can check all the views and comments by other visitors. They can share out the videos from Youtube (original source) to other social media, such as Facebook, Twitter, Google+, LinkedIn and more. They can embed the videos depends on their favourite or email them to anyone. The best part about this Web2.0 is the users can just share the videos to any channels while the Web1.0 doesn’t even allow the users to like or share the videos. The LIKE and DISLIKE button below the videos allow the visitors to review the quality of the videos. The comments below from other visitors allow them to refer and interact. They can exchange their opinions and ideas based on the videos. The comments can translate into the languages that understand by the visitors. There is notification when the video achieve a high number of clicks and views. The number of subscribers showed beside the Subscribe button. After subscribe the channel, there will be notifications deliver to the user if there is any updates of the channels. Hence, the subscribers will never miss the latest videos and updates. Web1.0 is just a plain and flat platform for the visitors to visit but there will be no notification to remind about the new release.

Youtube becomes the best platform to look for ideas and talents as reference. Before the launching of Web2.0, only publisher have the power to create and contribute to the website. The publisher can’t edit and modify the content on the stop to update it since Web1.0 have no ability to change and modify the content. But in Youtube, the channel owner can update the information anytime and anywhere as long as they have internet with them. Youtube even allow the users to edit video with filters, colour corrections, audio mixers and other effects during the uploading process. The subtitles and pop-up text can be add on in the video in a very short time. Web2.0 makes online editing easier and faster to produce better videos. In Web2.0, the owner of channel can manage the accounts whereby he or she can choose what to show and what to hide. There are choices of public, unlisted and private where can be choose based on the owner’s privacy. Youtube users can import the videos from other Google linked accounts and share to any linked accounts. At the same time, Youtube turns into a platform for advertising and online business. Flexible web design, creative reuse, updates, collaborative content creation and modification were facilitated through web 2.0. One of outstanding features of web 2.0 is to support collaboration and to help gather collective intelligence rather web 1.0.  (Nematbakhsh, Farsani, & Aghaei, 2012) Youtube is the best example to gather collective intelligence where the fans of the same artist can have their fans pages together while the Youtubers can have cross-over without the boundaries of languages, countries and races. Those who are with the same hobbies and interests may compile their efforts together and produce something greater. Youtube can be a very good channel to connect people to make friends and earn money and profits at the same time. In Web2.0, there are more interesting dynamic elements on the website

As a conclusion, in the world of Web2.0, the publisher can be anyone while everyone can edit and modify the content. Youtube as the Web2.0 platform functions not only a platform to view videos but everyone but not artists only can upload their self-make videos online. Web2.0 raised the participatory culture and the collective intelligence since it allows any users to contribute but not read only. This makes the users to interact more with the publishers or other users. Web2.0 is obviously much interesting compared to the static Web1.0 which just able to view only and less efficient in communication. Web3.0 is coming up soon which might replace Web2.0 just like how Web1.0 been replaced. The internet technology plays the important role in our daily lives communication. The power of internet technology might getting advanced but the technology should be spend well to avoid any social issues like piracy of ownerships.
